PARENT EDUCATION

Family involvement is a critical component of progress. Evidence-based research has clearly shown family involvement increases academic achievement and skill acquisition.

The SBEC encourages families to increase their knowledge and inform

professionals about their concerns when their children are younger because

altering behaviors and learning new skills are easier among young children.

Parent Education (PE) programs can provide guidance on understanding

autism or other development delays, strategies for managing challenging

behaviors, techniques for promoting communication and social skills

development, and assistance in creating structured and supportive environments

at home.
